BeKura Waliah Shabazz

Founder and President

Minister BeKura Waliah Shabazz began her mission to eradicate injustice at 17, starting with her involvement in a federal drug case. Her success in securing a reduced sentence for a client facing life in prison inspired her to establish the Injustice Reform Network in 2019. The organization has since achieved a 100% success rate in legal advocacy, specializing in criminal, civil, and administrative injustices. In 2018, Shabazz expanded her focus to environmental justice, leading efforts to address the intersection of criminal and environmental injustices. She has held leadership roles in several environmental organizations, including the Virginia Environmental Justice Collaborative and the Chesapeake Bay Program. Her work has earned her multiple awards and her first federal grant for a project aimed at protecting and restoring tidal marshes and blue crab populations. Shabazz remains committed to fighting all forms of injustice, with a special focus on environmental justice.
