BeKura Waliah Shabazz
Founder and PresidentMinister BeKura Waliah Shabazz began her mission to eradicate injustice at 17, starting with her involvement in a federal drug case. Her success in securing a reduced sentence for a client facing life in prison inspired her to establish the Injustice Reform Network in 2019. The organization has since achieved a 100% success rate in legal advocacy, specializing in criminal, civil, and administrative injustices.
In 2018, Shabazz expanded her focus to environmental justice, leading efforts to address the intersection of criminal and environmental injustices. She has held leadership roles in several environmental organizations, including the Virginia Environmental Justice Collaborative and the Chesapeake Bay Program. Her work has earned her multiple awards and her first federal grant for a project aimed at protecting and restoring tidal marshes and blue crab populations.
Shabazz remains committed to fighting all forms of injustice, with a special focus on environmental justice.
Cherrika Fauntleroy
Vice PresidentCherrika Fauntleroy serves as the Vice President of the Injustice Reform Network, where her expertise in event coordination and community engagement supports the organization’s mission of advocating for justice and equality. As a dedicated Christian Professional Life and Leadership Coach, Cherrika embodies a heart for service in every role she takes on.
Her exceptional networking abilities have enabled her to forge connections that promote positive change and foster collaboration within the community. Cherrika’s entrepreneurial spirit is evident in her various ventures, reflecting her passion for empowering others.
Driven by her commitment to fight injustices, Cherrika is currently pursuing an associate degree in paralegal studies, as she continues on her path toward a career in law. Her leadership and unwavering dedication to family and community make her a force for good, demonstrating how one person’s vision and determination can create lasting impact.
Edwuan A. Whitehead
2nd Vice President, Director of Campaigns, Policy, & LGBTQ+ AffairsEdwuan Whitehead is a passionate advocate and community organizer dedicated to addressing systemic inequities and fostering meaningful change within the Commonwealth of Virginia. As the 2nd Vice President and Director of Campaigns, Policy, & LGBTQ+ Affairs for the Injustice Reform Network Virginia, Edwuan brings a wealth of experience in policy analysis, political strategy, and grassroots organizing to the fight for justice reform.
In his dual roles, Edwuan spearheads the organization’s campaigns and policy initiatives, ensuring they are data-driven, impactful, and reflective of community needs. He is also a steadfast champion for LGBTQ+ rights, working to amplify marginalized voices and promote intersectional advocacy across all reform efforts.
With a professional background in community mental health, Edwuan works to bridge the gaps between mental health services and justice reform efforts, ensuring that underserved populations receive the support they deserve. He also serves as a registered lobbyist, advocating for impactful legislative changes to promote equity and dismantle systemic injustices.
A proud resident of Richmond, Virginia, Edwuan leverages his expertise to empower individuals and communities, creating pathways for engagement, education, and systemic transformation. Outside of his professional work, Edwuan enjoys connecting with nature, playing the tenor saxophone, and exploring the creative arts.
Edwuan’s leadership within the Injustice Reform Network exemplifies his unwavering commitment to building a more just and equitable future for all, with a specific focus on inclusive policies and advocacy for LGBTQ+ communities.
Jessica Williams
Director of Insurance and TransportationJessica is a native of Newport News, Virginia. I’m currently the Director of Insurance and Transportation for the Injustice Reform Network. I have a history of community service facilitating from the Moton Community House under the leadership of Mr. Linwood DeBrew. I have worked with the Southeast Asthma Network and the Southeast Care Coalition. I’ve worked with the Americorps Vista Program, where I received certifications in Homeland Security and Home ownership advocacy. I have a certification in small business as well. I currently have a CDL license and work within my city.
Christopher Joyner
Prison Prevention MentorChristopher Joyner is a passionate Prison Prevention Mentor dedicated to guiding at-risk youth and young adults away from criminal activity and gang involvement. After serving 20 years in federal prison for leading a criminal organization in Newport News, Virginia, he has turned his life around, focusing on mentorship and service to his community. Drawing on his personal experiences, Christopher is committed to breaking the cycle of incarceration and violence, helping young people grow into responsible, productive citizens.
He excels in leadership, life coaching, and individual counseling, using his skills to create safe and supportive learning environments for those he mentors. His approach includes public speaking, effective communication, and the development of impactful course materials. Christopher is also certified in parenting education (Levels 1, 2, and 3), social development, and victim impact programs.
With a G.E.D. and certifications as a life coach and public speaker, Christopher’s mission is to guide at-risk youth towards positive life choices. Through his mentorship, he aims to prevent incarceration and violence, helping young individuals find their path to becoming active contributors to society.
